The Drug Education Forum summer event will take place online on Wednesday 3rd July  2024 from 3.30 – 5.00pm 

The keynote speaker isProf Fiona Measham, Chair in Criminology at the University of Liverpool, and Founder and Chair of The Loop, who will be speaking about the role of drug checking and harm reduction at clubs and festivals. Fiona is internationally renowned for her research on changing trends in drug use, drug policy and nightlife. She has been a member of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and is a founding member of Drug Science.  

The programme also includes three short spotlights on different models of drug education and harm reduction from across the UK: 

  • Dan Gibbons from Re-Solv: ‘Sprays, gasses and glues’ 
  • Helena Conibear from The TALK ABOUT Trust, formerly The Alcohol Education Trust: ‘How to make alcohol and drug education interactive, informative and effective – games and activities suitable for the classroom and informal settings.’  
  • Monica Richards from the Benzo Research Project: ‘Benzos, young people, and the emergence of nitazenes’ 

This will be followed by an opportunity to connect and network with other attendees in small groups. The event will take place on Microsoft Teams.
