The Drug Education Forum launch event will take place online on Wednesday 20th March 2024 3.30 – 5.00pm

The keynote speaker is Prof Harry Sumnall, a Professor in Substance Use in the School of Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University. His research is on a wide range of drug related topics – from pre-clinical studies to policy analysis – but has particular specialism in young people’s drug use, and prevention interventions. Harry was involved in the charity Mentor UK.

The programme includes three short spotlights on different models of drug education and harm reduction from across the UK:

  1. Using AI in harm reduction: ‘Dr Ivan Ezquerra-Romano, founder Substancy and co-founder Neurosight’
  2. Multi-component, universal drug education: Fiona Spargo-Mabbs OBE, director and founder DSM Foundation
  3. How schools can support the children of parents who are substance dependent: Viv Evans, CEO Adfam

There will be an opportunity to connect with other providers and practitioners, and discuss the development of the DEF.
